Director of Health & Safety

POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SAFETY

LOCATION: TEXAS + TRAVEL

FLSA CLASS: EXEMPT

Position Summary: VoltaGrid is seeking a highly experienced Health and Safety Stationary Fleets and Data Center professional to lead health and safety oversight across our stationary fleet supporting customer data centers. This role is responsible for ensuring safety performance across the entire data center support lifecycle, including construction and operational facilities. This position will serve as the safety liaison with key strategic customers, ensuring clear communication, transparency, and confidence in VoltaGrid’s safety culture and performance. The successful candidate will operate at a senior leadership level, coordinating safety strategy, overseeing site safety resources, supporting investigations, and maintaining strong working relationships with customers, contractors, site teams, safety teams, and internal leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Stationary Fleet Health and Safety Leadership

• Provide safety leadership for all VoltaGrid stationary fleets located at data center projects and operating sites
• Oversee safety performance during both construction and operational phases of the full data center support lifecycle
• Conduct site visits and reviews to verify safety performance and alignment with VoltaGrid standards
• Support and guide site safety personnel assigned to data center projects and facilities
• Monitor safety performance metrics, including both leading and lagging indicators
• Identify safety risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented

Client Relationship & Account Management

• Serve as the primary Health and Safety liaison with strategic data center customers
• Maintain strong working relationships with customer safety leadership and project stakeholders
• Provide regular safety updates, reports, and presentations to client leadership teams
• Ensure consistent communication between VoltaGrid Health and Safety leadership, safety teams, project teams, contractors, and customer organizations
• Support client audits, safety reviews, and project alignment meetings

Construction & Operational Safety Integration

• Maintain visibility across all data center projects, including developmental and operational sites
• Work closely with internal construction managers, project managers, customers, and operations leaders to ensure safety alignment and support
• Ensure safety resources are appropriately deployed across both construction and operational environments
• Participate in project planning to integrate safety expectations early in the project lifecycle

Incident Management & Investigations

• Lead or oversee incident investigations for events occurring at data center sites
• Ensure investigations follow a structured Root Cause Analysis methodology such as Think Reliability
• Ensure corrective actions are identified, assigned, and tracked to closure
• Communicate findings and lessons learned to internal leadership and customers when appropriate

Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination

• Engage with general contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with VoltaGrid safety expectations
• Review contractor safety plans and site safety practices for data center projects
• Ensure contractor incident reporting and safety metrics are maintained and communicated appropriately
• Support coordination between VoltaGrid safety leadership and contractor safety teams

Regulatory and Stakeholder Interface

• Serve as a safety representative for VoltaGrid when interacting with regulators related to safety matters at data center sites
• Coordinate with internal and customer leadership when regulatory matters arise

Other Requirements

• Minimum 15+ years of experience in construction safety, industrial safety, or Health and Safety leadership
• Significant experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or construction projects such as data centers
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively with executive leadership, customers, and field teams
• Strong knowledge of construction and operational health and safety practices
• Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis processes
• Proven ability to coordinate safety resources across multiple sites or projects
• Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Professional certifications such as

• CSP (Certified Safety Professional)

PMP (Project Management Professional)

• Experience supporting data center construction or critical infrastructure projects

Experience managing multi-site safety programs
