Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Safety Officer / Supervisor to lead and maintain our company’s health and safety program. This role is a 50/50 split between office responsibilities and field inspections, meetings, and on-site support. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance, mentoring staff, and ensuring the ongoing success of our COR-certified safety program.

Key Responsibilities

Perform diligent record keeping of all safety documentation and ensure compliance with reporting requirements for designated management staff.

Maintain and manage COR (Certificate of Recognition) requirements for a company of 100+ employees.

Provide mentorship, training, and coaching to staff on proper safety document completion.

Complete assigned direct observations and ensure reporting requirements are met.

Organize, attend, and maintain records for regular safety meetings, including:

Safety Committee meetings (including agendas and minutes)

Tailgate meetings

Informal safety meetings

Conduct regular field inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory standards.

Support incident investigations and corrective action processes.

Maintain accountability for delegated safety responsibilities while actively participating in hands-on field work as well as office work.

Qualifications & Requirements

Mandatory: NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation.

Demonstrated experience maintaining COR certification for an organization with at least 50 employees.

Prior experience in Management-level Operations is considered an asset.

Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and industry best practices.

Proven ability to mentor and coach employees at all levels.

Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Effective communication and leadership abilities.

Ability to work independently while collaborating with management and field teams.
