Health & Safety Officer

Champion Group of Companies is looking for a Safety Officer to join our team.

• *Responsibilities**
• Responsible for safety orientation, training and onboarding.
• Implement and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
• Develop and ensure Safe Work Procedures are current and complete for all job sites.
• Liaise closely with all field personnel to ensure that all company and legislative policies are being adhered to.
• Manage and organize all safety records and staff training certificates.
• Identify, develop and organize training programs for workers and management.
• Lead Safety Meetings and all associated communications with employees and clients.
• Develop and monitor weekly toolbox meetings and Hazard Assessments.
• Prepare and maintain all requirements, documentation and filing for COR certification and audits.
• Manage and submit required subcontractor and prequalification safety documentation.
• Lead and manage workplace audits and investigations of safety concerns, accidents and incidents, including appeals where appropriate.
• Manage Workers’ Compensation claims, light duty, and return to work programs proactively, working closely with the employee and management.
• Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take the necessary measures to correct them.
• Other duties as required.
• *Requirements**:
• 5+ years safety experience in the construction industry.
• Must have relevant safety management certification that is required to work as a safety officer.
• In depth knowledge of safety legislations, procedures and processes.
• Exceptional leadership, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience conducting orientation and training.
• Experience with COR Audit Certification and maintenance.
• Working knowledge of Avetta, ISNet and other prequalification sites considered an asset.
• Proficient in MS office.
• *Salary**: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per hour
